Santa Fé has Canyon Road, Sedona has Gallery Row. With over 50 Sedona galleries centered on this mile-long stretch of Highway 179, this is where you will find the “heART” of Sedona. Add in a diverse mix of restaurants, shops, plazas, boutiques, New Age Centers, and a pretty little thing we like to call “Oak Creek,” and Gallery Row is a destination in and of itself.
Gallery Row begins at the north end of Highway 179 with the Shops at Hyatt Piñon Pointe and stretches down over the Tlaquepaque Bridge around the corner past Hozho Center through to Hillside Sedona. World-renowned galleries in every size, medium, style and variety of art dot this entire landscape. Southwestern, Contemporary, Native American, Folk Art and many other genres of fine art line the walls of these beautiful galleries that sit atop red rocks, on the banks of Oak Creek or just across from Snoopy Rock. Views abound inside and out. Stroll from gallery to gallery browsing award-winning pottery, glass art, sculpture, bronzes, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, weavings, rugs, mixed media, outdoor sculpture, fountains and many more work exceptional works of art you will not see anywhere else in the world. Immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of artistic vision created by local, emerging and nationally-recognized artists who all find inspiration here in Sedona.
Along the way, stop to shop at destination plazas like Tlaquepaque, Hillside Sedona, Hozho and the Shops at Piñon Pointe. Visit the Center for the New Age or Crystal Castle to get a psychic reading, browse their offerings for crystals or healing and spirituality resources. Dine in fine restaurants like the Secret Garden Café for lunch, the Oak Creek Brewery for local brews and scrumptious food then dust off the red dirt and head out for a night on the town with live music at Ken’s Creekside or back at the Oak Creek Brewery.
You’ll find parking throughout Gallery Row or if you’d rather, skip the driving and ride the free Sedona Roadrunner Shuttle which makes stops at all the major Gallery Row destinations every 15 minutes. You can also walk most of the way if you’d rather get some exercise while you take in the sights! Newly constructed wide sidewalks line most of Gallery Row now after recent road improvements.
Insider Tip - While visiting Gallery Row, take a slight detour up scenic Schnebly Hill Road to get a closer look at Snoopy Rock and a breathtaking 360 degree view of Sedona. Just about a half a mile up the road you'll see a parking area on your left before the road turns to jeepsville (as in, 4 wheel drive required). Park here, enjoy some scenery and photo ops. If you’re ambitious, several hiking trails lead off from here down to Oak Creek and up the red rocks. If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, head up Schnebly Hill Rd as far as you want to go. This trail is one of Sedona’s most popular for jeep tours. In its entirety, the road actually leads very slowly up the rim all the way to Flagstaff. About 5-7 miles up, you’ll find Merry-Go-Round Rock and well, it goes without saying, THE MOST spectacular views in Sedona.
Extra tip: Ride up here in the late afternoon with a blanket, some champagne and plenty of room on your camera’s memory card for the most magnificent, breath-taking, awe-inspiring, red-rock-your-world sunset you will ever see in your life. Relax, meditate, appreciate nature and be sure to leave no trace behind so we can protect and preserve the beauty of our natural landscapes.
